2024
Playoff Recap
Thank you, everyone, for another exciting and memorable year in the Blumpkin League! The 2024 season has come to a close, and we’re thrilled to crown a new league champion.
The 2024 Blumpkin Championship saw #1 seed Jon (Team Shields) Shields defeat #2 seed James (That Johnson) DelMasto in an epic showdown, 159.68 to 149.68. This is Jon’s first Blumpkin, and he earned it! Since joining the league, Jon has proven to be a force to reckon with, making the playoffs in all four of his seasons. With this victory, he now boasts the highest career league win percentage at 62%, surpassing both Lada and Mike Depol. But that’s not all—Jon also shattered a league record this season, scoring an unbelievable 2,428 points across the regular season and playoffs. His weekly average of 151.75 points is a mark I had to triple-check because it seemed almost too good to be true. Congratulations, Jon, on a historic season and your first championship!
In second place, James continued to build on his incredible consistency. Over the past four years, he’s racked up a Blumpkin, a 2nd place finish, a 3rd place finish, and a 4th place finish. Congrats on another fantastic season, brah!
Our third-place matchup featured #3 seed Matt (Kupp Your Enthusiasm) Lilly and #4 seed Lance (For Who? For What!) Paige. Lance came heartbreakingly close to claiming the final cash prize, with a high direct snap to Bijan Robinson at the goal line proving costly. I pulled off a narrow 130.96 to 125.62 victory and came in 3rd place for two consecutive years.
Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to everyone for making this season such a blast. Here’s to more records, rivalries, and Jon setting up his team name in 2025. Happy New Year, everyone!
